Basketball Recap: Medina Battling Bees vs. Mentor Cardinals

Medina lost against Mentor back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Medina Battling Bees took a 63-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mentor Cardinals. While losing is never fun, the Battling Bees can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Cardinals are ranked 41st).

Mentor got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jack Kennedy out in front who went 5-for-12 to rack up 20 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds. Kennedy has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Kobe Frasure-Azzano was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and ten boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Medina and nudges their season record down to 10-12. As for Mentor, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-7.

Coming up, Medina is taking a road trip to take on Jackson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Jackson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 19 games -- so hopefully Medina likes a good challenge. As for Mentor, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 79-66 win against Lakewood on the 22nd.
