Baseball Game Preview: Scott County Cardinals vs. Lafayette Generals

The Scott County Cardinals will face off against the Lafayette Generals at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Scott County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

Scott County took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They blew past Montgomery County 14-4. That looming 14-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cardinals yet this season.

Preston Luckett tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Garrett Sparks was a standout: he scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Parker Dotson was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Scott County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Lafayette was a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They fell just short of Frankfort by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Generals have suffered since April 27, 2024.

Scott County's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Lafayette, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2-1.
