Soccer Game Preview: Hokes Bluff vs. New Hope

The Hokes Bluff Eagles will take on the New Hope Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hokes Bluff's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Friday just wasn't the day for Hokes Bluff's offense. They lost 7-0 to Pell City on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 149th, while the Panthers are ranked 33rd).

New Hope hadn't beaten Priceville on the road since March 9, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. New Hope won by a goal and slipped past Priceville 2-1.

Galvin Ingold and Timothy Gordon scored both of New Hope's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Hokes Bluff's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for New Hope, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4-1 record this season.

Everything went Hokes Bluff's way against New Hope in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, as Hokes Bluff made off with a 6-2 win. Will Hokes Bluff repeat their success, or does New Hope have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
