Softball Recap: Tug Valley Drops Season-High Score on Man

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tug Valley). They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Man Hillbillies on Tuesday. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Emma Lackey and Bailee Hall made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Lackey tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hall pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lackey has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Lackey went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Hall got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most hits Lackey has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katie Hall, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Aleksah Osborne was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Tug Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.2.

Tug Valley has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Man, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Tug Valley has already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against WestSide on the 16th. Man has also already played their next game (against Sherman), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
