Baseball Recap: Houston Academy Victorious

Houston Academy lost to Pike Liberal Arts back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Raiders walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Patriots. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.

Houston Academy got a great performance from Cooper Powell as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The Raiders are 5-2 when Powell allows three or fewer earned runs, but 5-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ty Morris, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Houston Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-12 otherwise. Harrison Milanowski was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Houston Academy's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Pike Liberal Arts, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-14.

Houston Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Patriots: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
