Baseball Recap: Truman Patriots vs. Fort Osage Indians
Truman proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 18) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Fort Osage Indians, sneaking past 4-2. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Trevor Ottens made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Truman is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 12-13 otherwise. Ottens was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Cade Pleacher was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.
Truman hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Osage struck out nine times.
Truman now has a winning record of 15-14. As for Fort Osage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-14.
Coming up, Truman will welcome Platte County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Fort Osage, they will venture away from home to square off against Harrisonville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
