Sharpsville is on a four-game streak of home losses, and Grove City a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Sharpsville Blue Devils will host the Grove City Eagles at 7:15 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Thursday, Sharpsville didn't have quite enough to beat Franklin and fell 3-2.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Sharpsville sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 18-25, 25-21, 17-25, 15-6.
Meanwhile, Grove City didn't have quite enough to beat Greenville on Wednesday and fell 3-2. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans 25-16 in the first set.
Grove City started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-15, 15-13.
Sharpsville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Grove City, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14-1.
Everything went Sharpsville's way against Grove City in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Sharpsville made off with a 3-0 victory. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
