Softball Game Preview: Bartram Trail Bears vs. Baldwin Indians

After both having extra time off, the Bartram Trail Bears and the Baldwin Indians will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bartram Trail is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Bartram Trail fell victim to Santa Fe and their airtight pitching crew last Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders. The match marked the first time this year in which the Bears were not able to get on the board.

Rommeney Patrey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bartram Trail saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucie McDonald, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Even though they lost, Bartram Trail hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. This was only their second loss (out of six games) when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Baldwin came tearing into last Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Buccaneers with a sharp 12-2 victory. Considering the Indians have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Baldwin got a massive performance out of Makaila Fry, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Jazmine Ramos-Merced was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and six RBI.

Baldwin's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Bartram Trail, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
