Recap: Seffner Christian Crusaders vs. North Tampa Christian Academy Titans
After flying high against the Frostproof Bulldogs last Saturday, the Seffner Christian Crusaders came back down to earth. Seffner Christian fell just short of North Tampa Christian Academy by a score of 64-62. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Seffner Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Vernon Lee jr, who scored 22 points. Lee jr scored a full 35.5% of Seffner Christian's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Cameron Knox was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 5 rebounds.
Seffner Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as North Tampa Christian Academy racked up 15.
North Tampa Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Toni Bryant , who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Bryant 's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ezekiel UDOZORH , who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Seffner Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for North Tampa Christian Academy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.
Seffner Christian will head out on the road to face off against Bell Creek Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bell Creek Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 217 points over their last three contests. As for North Tampa Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Varsity Opponent is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
