Basketball Game Preview: Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Buccaneers vs. Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights

The Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Buccaneers will head out to challenge the Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Waterville-Elysian-Morristown knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 matches -- so hopefully Kenyon-Wanamingo likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Waterville-Elysian-Morristown made easy work of United South Central and carried off a 78-56 victory. The Buccaneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 22 points or more this season.

Kenyon-Wanamingo has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They came up short against Southland on Thursday, falling 66-46. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while the Rebels are ranked 61st).

Waterville-Elysian-Morristown's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Kenyon-Wanamingo, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.

Waterville-Elysian-Morristown came out on top in a nail-biter against Kenyon-Wanamingo in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, sneaking past 63-61. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waterville-Elysian-Morristown since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
