Softball Recap: Mcewen Has No Trouble Against East Hickman County

McEwen made up a huge gap compared to their last game against East Hickman County, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Warriors put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 12-0 victory on Monday. The matchup marked the Warriors' most dominant win of the season.

Ava Lastovka was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, McEwen got a big performance out of Laila Downs-Darden, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Tylee Tummins was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

McEwen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

McEwen's record now sits at 8-3. As for East Hickman County, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-8.

Looking ahead, McEwen will challenge Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 2.4, the Tigers 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for East Hickman County, they will face off against Harpeth Hall at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
