Baseball Recap: Massac County Picks Up Tenth Straight Win on the Road

Massac County never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Herrin Tigers by a score of 5-0. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Zach Maurer made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Ryan Musselman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Brayden Jennings was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Massac County pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.
