Preview: Carthage Bulldogs vs. Center Roughriders
Carthage is 5-0 against Center since October of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Carthage Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Center Roughriders at 7:30 p.m. Carthage is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Last Friday, Carthage blew past Rusk, posting a 49-21 win at home. The result was nothing new for Carthage, who have now won seven contests by 25 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Carthage to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kj Edwards, who rushed for 88 yards and three touchdowns. Bradan Manning also helped out with an impressive 106 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Center pushed their score all the way to 36 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 56-36 walloping at the hands of Van. The matchup was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly Center struggled afterwards.
The losing side was boosted by Emonte Cross, who punched in four rushing scores. Cross is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played.
Carthage's win was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0. They've been dominating across those matchups too: they took their wins by an average of 37 points. As for Center, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Everything came up roses for Carthage against Center in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 64-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carthage since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
