Softball Game Preview: Mineral Ridge Rams vs. Crestview Rebels

The Mineral Ridge Rams will challenge the Crestview Rebels at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Mineral Ridge's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Crestview has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

Mineral Ridge's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Friday's struggle, when Pymatuning Valley hitters got past them. The Rams fell 11-6 to the Lakers on Friday.

Sullivan Sandy made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddie Gerberry, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Crestview fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against LaBrae on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 7-5.

Chloe Stoops was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenna Figley, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Mineral Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 18-8. As for Crestview, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Mineral Ridge hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Crestview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Mineral Ridge suffered a grim 19-2 defeat to Crestview in their previous matchup back in April of 2017. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
