High school basketball: Is Elliot Cadeau the best point guard regardless of classification?

North Carolina pledge averaging 14.2 points, 10.1 assists and 5.3 rebounds on Nike EYBL circuit.

Rising senior Elliot Cadeau has established himself as the top pure point guard prospect in the nation regardless of classification, leading the Nike EYBL in assists with 10.1 per contest. He's also averaging 14.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest through 12 games for New Heights Lightning.

The highly regarded guard has led the Empire State club program to a 10-2 mark through the first three EYBL sessions with double-digit assists in nine games and a season-high of 15 assists.

Cadeau has been efficient this summer, shooting 49.5 percent from the field, 39.1 percent from 3-point range and 91.9 percent from the free throw line.

The 6-foot-1 point guard was selected to the MaxPreps Junior All-America second team after averaging 10.9 points, 7.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game to guide Link Academy (Branson, Mo.) to the No. 1 spot in the final National Top 10.

Cadeau broke the record for assists in a single game (14) and assists in a tournament (29) to lead the Lions (27-1) to the GEICO Nationals title.



The No. 9 overall prospect and the No. 1 point guard in the Class of 2024, according to 247Sports, Cadeau committed to North Carolina over offers from Baylor, Duke, Georgetown, Louisville, Maryland, Oklahoma State, St. John's, Syracuse, Tennessee and Texas among others.
