The Lake Fenton Blue Devils will venture away from home to square off against the Lapeer Lightning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lake Fenton has five straight victories, Lapeer has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Lake Fenton needed a bit of extra time to put away Goodrich. They beat the Martians by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-4.

Mia Merrell (2027) was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Laureena Baehl (2027) was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Lapeer came up short against Central on Thursday and fell 8-5.
Mattie Tracy was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Breana Fantin, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Lake Fenton pushed their record up to 19-3 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lapeer, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Lapeer's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lake Fenton has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Lapeer, though, as they've been averaging 9.6 hits. Given Lake Fenton's sizable advantage in that area, the Lightning will need to find a way to close that gap.
