Purcella wasn't messing around, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. The pitching appearance was her seventh straight with two or fewer walks.

Purcella's strong effort led Albuquerque Academy over Rio Grande and she'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
