Basketball Game Preview: ThunderRidge Grizzlies vs. Broomfield Eagles

The ThunderRidge Grizzlies will face off against the Broomfield Eagles on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

ThunderRidge is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 37-19 win over Poudre. The victory continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Impalas: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Broomfield waltzed into their contest on Friday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Knights 70-22. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 22 points or more this season.

ThunderRidge better keep an eye on Paige Gilpatrick. She was instrumental in Broomfield's win, going 5-for-7 on her way to 14 points and four steals. Gilpatrick has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Reece Gilpatrick was another key player, going 5-for-7 to rack up 10 points.

Broomfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairview only five assists.

Broomfield pushed their record up to 22-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points over those games. As for ThunderRidge, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.

ThunderRidge didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Broomfield when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 45-39 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Gilpatrick, who went 6-for-10 en route to 19 points and eight boards.
