Basketball Recap: Rawlins County Starts Season with Victory Against Decatur Community

Rawlins County had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 54-45 win over the Decatur Community Red Devils. That's more bragging rights for the Buffaloes, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Rawlins County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tayten Dewey out in front who went 12 of 19 en route to 27 points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Kayte Shively, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Decatur Community lost, don't look at Brylee Minnick. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Fortin, who posted nine points and five assists.

Rawlins County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-16 win against Logan/Palco on the 10th. As for Decatur Community, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 34-21 victory against Hitchcock County on the 10th.
