Recap: Keystone Wildcats vs. Wellington Dukes
The Keystone Wildcats put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 31-30 victory over Wellington. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Keystone has scored all season.
Keystone got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jessica Forthofer out in front who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks. Forthofer has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Vivian Cassell, who scored four points along with 13 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Wellington lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brooke Lehmkuhl. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lehmkuhl has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Miller, who scored ten points.
Keystone's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. As for Wellington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Keystone will face off against Brookside at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Brookside is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Wellington, they will head out on the road to take on Oberlin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Oberlin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 734th, while Wellington is ranked 271st).
