Yreka and Central Valley pushed the score to 15-7 the last time they played Central Valley, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Miners narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Falcons 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Miners: when they faced off against the Falcons back in April, they had to take a 15-7 loss.

Kaelynn DeBortoli spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Yreka's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cici Henry, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Yreka is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-20 record this season. As for Central Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Yreka is set to face off against their familiar foe University Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Central Valley will challenge rival Lassen at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
