Softball Recap: Hudson Hawks vs. Apponequet Regional Lakers

Hudson had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Apponequet Regional Lakers 6-4. The win was familiar territory for Hudson who now have four in a row.

For Apponequet Regional's part, Lauren Bernaiche was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Bernaiche has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than seven innings in four consecutive pitching appearances. Bernaiche was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and an RBI.

Bernaiche wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kate Suneson, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Hudson has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Apponequet Regional, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-5.
