Eustis is a perfect 10-0 against Mount Dora since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Eustis Panthers will welcome the Mount Dora Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. Eustis is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Eustis' pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Leesburg as Eustis made off with a 19-0 victory. The game marked the Panthers' most dominant win of the season so far.
Brooke Mansfield looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Emmy Luke was a standout: she fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Covino, who scored four runs and stole four bases while going 4-for-4.
Eustis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Leesburg only posted an OBP of .182.
Meanwhile, Mount Dora can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Umatilla 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hurricanes have posted since April 11, 2024.
KALEIGH CASEY spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game.
At the plate, Mount Dora's win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was ADDISON GANUS, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that GANUS launched this season.
Eustis' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 runs over those games. As for Mount Dora, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
Eustis' speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. Eustis has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Mount Dora, though, as they've been averaging only 0.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Eustis continue to outrun the ball?
Eustis took their victory against Mount Dora when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-1. Will Eustis repeat their success, or does Mount Dora have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
