Football Game Preview: Glenelg Gladiators vs. Wilde Lake Wildecats

Glenelg is 8-2 against Wilde Lake since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Gladiators will square off against the Wildecats at 6:00 p.m.

On Thursday, Glenelg came up short against Atholton and fell 40-28.

Despite the loss, Glenelg had strong showings from Jailen Johnson, who rushed for 128 yards and one score, and Matthew Keane, who picked up 36 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Johnson's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 101 rushing yards. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Kyndell Owens, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Wilde Lake won against Hammond last Friday with 28 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Wildecats walked away with a 28-20 victory over Reservoir. The win was nothing new for the Wildecats as they're now sitting on three straight.

Glenelg has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Wilde Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Everything came up roses for Glenelg against Wilde Lake in their previous meeting back in September, as the squad secured a 37-8 win. In that contest, the Gladiators amassed a halftime lead of 28-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
