Softball Recap: Clinton Central Bulldogs vs. Tri-County Cavaliers

Clinton Central had lost five straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 8-12 to make it six. They lost 12-5 to the Tri-County Cavaliers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-2 on Saturday.

Clinton Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nuriah Harvey, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

As for Tri-County, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-2. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won 15 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Tri-County's side, Grace Luck made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Luck has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Kami Wilkerson and Bella Dominguez did most of the damage at the plate: Wilkerson went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Dominguez went 2-for-5 with one home run and two runs. That's the most hits Wilkerson has posted since back in April of 2024. Reese Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Clinton Central and Tri-County are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Bulldogs will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bethesda Christian at 5:30 p.m. on the 27th. As for Tri-County, they will square off against Faith Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
