Two dominant backs in Gerald Clark and Teagan Hackett are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Chiles Timberwolves will take on the Florida State University High School Seminoles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chiles is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 28.7 points per game this season.
Chiles took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They took down Impact Christian Academy 36-22. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Timberwolves' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Lions are ranked 341st).
A big part of Chiles' win came down to the chemistry between Gavin Ford and his top target Cade Frier. Ford threw for 197 yards and one TD while completing 82.4% of his passes while Frier picked up 73 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Meanwhile, Florida State University High School gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't give up any more after. They put the hurt on South Walton with a sharp 34-14 victory. The Seminoles haven't had any issues with the Seahawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Chiles better keep an eye on Cannon Cowhey. He was instrumental in Florida State University High School's win, throwing for 287 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Cowhey a new career-high in rushing yards (nine). Jaylan Lurry also helped out with an impressive 98 receiving yards.
Florida State University High School's run defense was locked in: South Walton could only muster 2.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Jason Harville for the heroic effort on defense: he. The dominant display was nothing new: Florida State University High School has now limited their opponent to fewer and fewer yards per carry in three consecutive contests.
Florida State University High School's defense didn't let JD Brown, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. Harville was especially locked on to South Walton's QB and sacked him twice. Harville is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last ten games he's played dating back to last season. Skyler Burger was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Chiles' record now sits at 4-2. As for Florida State University High School, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Chiles has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 352.7 total yards per game. However, it's not like Florida State University High School struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 369.8 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Chiles came up short against Florida State University High School when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 37-27. Thankfully for the Timberwolves, Jayden Threatts (who rushed for 80 yards and three scores on only ten carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
