Baseball Game Preview: Manchester Lancers vs. Highland Springs Springers

Manchester is a perfect 5-0 against Highland Springs since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Lancers will head out to take on the Springers at 6:00 p.m. Manchester is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Manchester got the win against Varina by a conclusive 9-1. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by eight runs or more this season.

Judah Parks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on zero hits and racked up ten Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Manchester is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Easton Butts, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Tyson Penepacker, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Highland Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 9-1 to Hanover.

Manchester's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Highland Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Manchester came out on top in a nail-biter against Highland Springs when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
