Volleyball Recap: Willmar Cardinals vs. Waconia Wildcats
Willmar's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Waconia Wildcats.
Willmar had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22.
Brielle Ogdahl paced Willmar's offense, picking up 15 kills. Ogdahl got some help from Ellery DeBoer and her 34 assists. Ogdahl also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Isley Ripperger, racking up two apiece.
The victory got Willmar back to even at 1-1. As for Waconia, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
Coming up, Willmar will be playing in front of their home fans against Rocori at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give the Cardinals their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Waconia, they are taking a road trip to face off against Shakopee at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
