Baseball Game Preview: Seminole Ridge Hawks vs. South Fork Bulldogs

The Seminole Ridge Hawks will face off against the South Fork Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Seminole Ridge 3, South Fork 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Seminole Ridge will bounce into Friday's match after beating Dwyer, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Hawks narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Panthers 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted against the Panthers since March 1, 2023.

Seminole Ridge got a great performance from Gage Roof as he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Roof has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brandon Turner, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, South Fork can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over Tradition Prep.

Carter Markin looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. South Fork is 3-1 when Markin allows two or fewer hits, but 9-10 otherwise.

At the plate, Jason Dennis was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Colton Bettencourt was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Seminole Ridge and bumps their season record up to 13-10. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for South Fork, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
