Football Game Preview: Solanco Golden Mules vs. Cocalico Eagles

Solanco is 2-8 against Cocalico since November of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Golden Mules will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Solanco knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Cocalico likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Solanco took their matchup with ease, bagging a 42-6 win over Manheim Central. The Golden Mules might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 28 points or more this season.

Solanco's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kris Burgos-Wise led the charge by rushing for 120 yards and a pair of TDs. Burgos-Wise got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 71 yards. Johnny Garcia was another key back, rushing for 71 yards and two scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Solanco was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 331 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 162 rushing yards in 13 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cocalico). They walked away with a 33-21 victory over Ephrata on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Mountaineers: they've now won seven in a row.

Solanco's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Cocalico, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
