Football Recap: Mooresville Skates Past Statesville with Ease + How To Watch

Mooresville came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.3 points), and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 45-13 win over the Statesville Greyhounds. With the Blue Devils ahead 28-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Brody Norman was his usual excellent self, throwing for 171 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 38 yards and a pair of scores. He is becoming a predictor of Mooresville's success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). 82 of Norman's passing yards were hauled in by Gavin Barber, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Mooresville proved: they limited Statesville to a paltry 0.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Maddox Blackburn for the heroic effort on defense: he. Mooresville's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 3.9.

Mooresville's defense also made the game a nightmare for the opposing QB, racking up 12 sacks. It was truly a group effort as Charles Sayre, Tanner Finnerty, Aaron Thomas, and David Di Leo picked up two apiece. Finnerty is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last 22 games he's played dating back to last season. Another thorn in Statesville's side was Blackburn, who picked up a sack and made 12 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Mooresville's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Statesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
