Basketball Recap: Douglas Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Hailee Koontz and Ashlyn Greenfield

Douglas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 51-42 to the Bishop Manogue Miners. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-43 back in December of 2024.

Douglas' loss came despite strong showings from Ashlyn Greenfield and Hailee Koontz. Greenfield posted 12 points and seven steals, while Koontz put up six points and 14 rebounds. Koontz is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 12 games she's played.

Even though they lost, Douglas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Douglas' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-11. As for Bishop Manogue, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Douglas is taking a road trip to face off against Galena at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bishop Manogue, they will be playing at home against McQueen at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. McQueen has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with nine straight losses, while Bishop Manogue will come in with three straight wins.
