Softball Game Recap: Wolfe County Wolves vs. Perry County Central Commodores

Wolfe County extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 11-7 in the process. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 8-5 to the Perry County Central Commodores, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. If the Wolves were looking for revenge after losing 12-4 to the Commodores when the teams met back in May of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Sami Noble made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

As for Perry County Central, their win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games.

On Perry County Central's side, Carolyne Moberly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. Moberly has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Perry County Central got a massive performance out of Alyssa Dixon, who went 3-for-5 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Dixon a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Dixon, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Wolfe County will host George Rogers Clark at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Perry County Central, they are taking a road trip to challenge Breathitt County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
