Baseball Game Preview: Amherst Central Tigers vs. Lewiston-Porter Lancers

The Amherst Central Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Lewiston-Porter Lancers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Amherst Central was handed a seven-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Starpoint 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted against the Spartans since May 13, 2022.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lewiston-Porter, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over North Tonawanda on Monday.

The team relied heavily on Brayden Anderson, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one triple. Another player making a difference was Brayden VanEgmond, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Amherst Central moved to 2-4 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Lewiston-Porter, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Everything went Amherst Central's way against Lewiston-Porter in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Amherst Central made off with a 12-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
