Southern Nash is a perfect 6-0 against Hunt since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Firebirds will head out to challenge the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Southern Nash knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Hunt likes a good challenge.
Southern Nash is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They strolled past Fike with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 68-54. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Firebirds' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Golden Demons are ranked 227th).
Southern Nash's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaden Hartsfield, who rushed for 174 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Camron Lyons was another key player, gaining 191 total yards and three touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Southern Nash was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 302 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 252 rushing yards in ten consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, while Hunt put up plenty of points two weeks ago, the same can't be said for Southern Wayne. The Warriors breezed past the Saints to the tune of 63-0. That looming 63-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Warriors yet this season.
Southern Nash better focus on containing Mez Harris and Doryan Jones as the pair were huge in Hunt's win. Harris rushed for 60 yards and a pair of TDs, while Jones rushed for 149 yards on only 12 carries. The dominant performance also gave Harris a new career-high in passing touchdowns (two).
Southern Nash's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points over those games. As for Hunt, their record is now 5-1.
Everything came up roses for Southern Nash against Hunt when the teams last played back in March of 2021, as the squad secured a 71-35 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Warriors' Cj Joyner, who rushed for 217 yards and three scores. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Firebirds to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
