Baseball Recap: Winthrop Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Winthrop can now relate to. They fell just short of the Mount Abram Roadrunners by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Winthrop saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ross Ficthorn, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Winthrop's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Mount Abram, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season.

Winthrop does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mount Abram, they will face off against Monmouth Academy on Thursday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so the Roadrunners' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
