Basketball Game Preview: Ravenna Ravens vs. Springfield Spartans

The Ravenna Ravens will venture away from home to take on the Springfield Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Ravenna is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Woodridge on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Ravenna lost 55-34 to Woodridge. While losing is never fun, the Ravens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 719th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 355th).

Meanwhile, Springfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 79-36 loss at the hands of Field.

Ravenna has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Springfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-15.

Everything came up roses for Ravenna against Springfield when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 79-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ravenna since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
