Rio Mesa won the last time they faced Santa Barbara and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Rio Mesa Spartans never let the Santa Barbara Dons get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. Considering the Spartans have won four matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Analia Lopez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single hit, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one double.
In other batting news, Rio Mesa let Samantha Barraza and Jaslene Rios run wild. Barraza scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Rios scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Barraza has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Gomez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
