Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Red Devils vs. Chesnee Eagles

Liberty and Chesnee are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Liberty Red Devils will take on the Chesnee Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Liberty will be strutting in after a victory while Chesnee will be coming in after a defeat.

Liberty is coming into the game on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight wins. They took down Brashier Middle College Charter 42-25 on Tuesday. That 17 point margin sets a new team best for the Red Devils this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Liberty to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trinity Garrett, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 12 points along with five boards and four steals. Natalie White was another key player, putting up 15 points and eight rebounds.

Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Chesnee came up short against R-S Central on Wednesday, falling 51-29. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Hilltoppers: they've now lost three in a row.

Chesnee's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Liberty, their victory bumped their record up to 3-12.

Liberty beat Chesnee 47-35 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Chesnee's Pearl Holloway, who shot 5-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Now that she won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for Liberty to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
