Preview: Mountain View Bruins vs. Hillcrest Huskies
The Mountain View Bruins and the Hillcrest Huskies will face off at 1:00 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Mountain View unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Layton by a score of 74-71. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Wednesday (61), Mountain View still had to take the loss.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Conner Fairbanks, who scored 26 points. The contest was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Bryce Mella was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Mountain View were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Hillcrest, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-52 loss to Pleasant Grove on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Hillcrest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Pleasant Grove is ranked 20th).
Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Hillcrest, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.
