Baseball Recap: Unity Eagles vs. Somerset Spartans

Unity extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 3-12 in the process. They lost 9-1 to the Somerset Spartans. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2016.

Unity saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Majeske, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for Somerset, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.

On Somerset's side, Kane Donnelly and Mason Schmidt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Donnelly tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Schmidt pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Donnelly went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Schmidt went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Donnelly a new career-high.
