Softball Recap: Henderson County Takes a Loss

Henderson County dropped their record down to 24-3 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the South Warren Spartans, falling 12-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Colonels have suffered since May 4, 2024.

Henderson County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maggie Grogan, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

As for South Warren, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games.

On South Warren's side, Hayden Holloway was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Holloway is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kinleigh Russell, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Henderson County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 6-0 victory against Marshall County on the 3rd. As for South Warren, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Tecumseh on the 3rd.
