Softball Recap: Six Straight Road Victories for Edgerton

While Edgerton put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Pettisville. The Bulldogs blew past the Blackbirds 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Ava Swank, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Everetts, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Edgerton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in four consecutive games.

Edgerton's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pettisville, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edgerton will face off against Paulding at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Pettisville, they will square off against Gorham Fayette at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.6 runs per game on average), something the Blackbirds will no doubt try to take advantage of.
