Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Luke Horn and Ezekiel Chavez Lead St. Mary's to Victory

The St. Mary's Knights earned a 35-28 win over the Paradise Honors Panthers on Friday.

A big part of St. Mary's victory came down to the chemistry between Luke Horn and his top target Ezekiel Chavez. Horn threw for 203 yards and a pair of TDs while Chavez picked up 111 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Those 111 receiving yards gave Chavez a new career-high.

Paradise Honors lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Chuck Van Dyke, who rushed for 135 yards and a pair of scores. He also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Paradise Honors is 4-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise. Preston Brown was in the mix as well, providing the Panthers with two touchdowns.

St. Mary's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Paradise Honors, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Coming up, St. Mary's will welcome ALA - West Foothills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Guardians will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. As for Paradise Honors, they will venture away from home to take on Northwest Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
