Stanton triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Rebecca Stoddard

Recap: Stanton Mustangs vs. Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family

The Stanton Mustangs came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-47 victory over Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family. This was payback for Stanton, who suffered a 66-56 loss the last time these two teams met.

Rebecca Stoddard was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 16 points along with three steals. The match was her sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Olivia Hupp, who scored 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Despite the loss, Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family still got an impressive performance from Claire Korth, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Korth scored a full 31.9% of Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Faith Korth was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.

Stanton is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Stanton will head out on the road to face off against Oakland-Craig on Friday. Hopefully Oakland-Craig focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday. As for Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family, they will be playing at home against Wisner-Pilger on Tuesday.
