Softball Recap: Petersburg Takes a Loss

Petersburg fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Sudan on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 19-15 to the Hornets. The Buffaloes haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

KYNLEE OVALLE was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season. E Orozco was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

OVALLE wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Petersburg lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Petersburg's record is now 1-9. As for Sudan, they pushed their record up to 9-7-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Petersburg has already played their next game (against Kress), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Sudan, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 14-7 win against Ralls on the 20th.
