While George County didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Gautier Gators by a score of 51-43 on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Rebels as they're now sitting on five straight.

When it comes to explaining why Gautier lost, don't look at Evan Smith. Despite the final result, he shot 40% from the field en route to 15 points and six rebounds. Smith has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Fredrick Davis was another key player, putting up 11 points and five boards.

George County's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Gautier, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. George County will square off against Greene County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gautier, they will take on Bay at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Gators are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
