Volleyball Recap: Mater Lakes Academy Bears vs. Mourning Sharks
With a playoff game on the line, Mater Lakes Academy rose to the challenge on Thursday. They blew past the Mourning Sharks 3-0. Winning may never get old, but the Bears sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Mater Lakes Academy never let Mourning on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-22, 25-13.
Mater Lakes Academy can attribute much of their success to Bellina Milito, who had eight digs.
Despite the loss, Mourning still got an impressive performance from Emma Winston, who had 18 digs. Another player making a difference was Julia Shevit, who had 11 assists.
Mater Lakes Academy's record now sits at 16-10. As for Mourning, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-5 record.
Both are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. After both having extra time off, Mater Lakes Academy and LaBelle will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mourning, they are on the road again on Wednesday to play North Broward Prep at 7:00 p.m. North Broward Prep will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Mourning surely won't give up without a fight.
