Brunswick has gone a perfect 3-0 against Shaker Heights recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Blue Devils will welcome the Red Raiders at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Brunswick's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Magnificat.
Brunswick got a great performance from Kiley Williams as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over 6.1 innings pitched.
At the plate, Lilly Leichliter was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Ava Beas was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Brunswick kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Magnificat only managed two hits.
Meanwhile, Shaker Heights put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Euclid with a sharp 13-1 victory. While the Red Raiders didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-9), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Scout Harvey made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Molly Milligan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Emerson Miller, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
The win got Brunswick back to even at 1-1. As for Shaker Heights, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Brunswick took their win against Shaker Heights in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 16-0 score. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
