Softball Recap: Willow Canyon Picks Up 20th Straight Win at Home

Willow Canyon won the last time they faced Lake Havasu and things went their way on Thursday too. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Knights. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 11 games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Lucy Burroughs looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mataya Olson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Addy Cervantes was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Willow Canyon pushed their record up to 15-7-1 with the victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Lake Havasu, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Willow Canyon will face off against Canyon View at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars' pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lake Havasu, they will welcome Ironwood at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
